UK’s richest man gets £15 million from UK in Foreign Aid

MILLIONS of pounds of British taxpayers’ cash is to help expand an oil plant part-owned by the UK’s richest man.

The firm linked to billionaire steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal has been offered aid budget cash.

A World Bank fund plans to offer a £295million loan — £15million of which will proportionally come from Britain — towards expanding a refinery in Mr Mittal’s native India.

The 62-year-old’s Mittal Energy Investments holds a 49 per cent stake in the project, as does a state-run firm. Mr Mittal’s family is worth £12.7billion.

The refinery is one of dozens of projects bankrolled by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation. The UK has already given the IFC £650million, or 5.1 per cent of its capital.

News of the proposed refinery loan comes just days after David Cameron pledged to press ahead with plans to increase Britain’s aid spending to £12billion a year, 0.7 per cent of national income.

David Cameron has given his clearest hint yet that he will back a referendum on Britain’s relationship with the EU if the Tories win the next election.

He said there will be opportunities for the British people to give “fresh consent” to the UK’s EU membership.

Closer economic ties between eurozone countries “will give us opportunities for changing our relationship with Europe“, he said.

However, he added he thought it was not in Britain’s interest to leave the EU.

The prime minister has faced calls to back an in/out referendum from his own MPs, 81 of whom rebelled against the party line last year to vote for a referendum.

Some Conservative MPs fear the UK Independence Party – which has long campaigned for the UK to leave the EU and for the public to have their say in a referendum – could lose the party seats at the next general election if Mr Cameron does not take a more Eurosceptic stance.

Migration time bomb – how will we cope when they get old?

The number of people living in England and Wales has soared by around four million in only ten years, according to the latest count released yesterday.

The increase, driven by large-scale immigration, pushed up the population at its fastest rate during the past 100 years.

The scale of the population boom that has followed Labour’s decision to ease curbs on immigration after 1997 was revealed by the Office for National Statistics in new estimates for England and Wales in the middle of last year.

The figures showed the population rose by 3.8million, or 7.3 per cent, from 52.4million in 2001 to 56,170,900 last year. And in three months last year – between the day of the 2011 national census at the end of March and the end of June – the population went up by 95,000, the equivalent of a city the size of Worcester.

FACTS MATTER

The Obama administration, as did  to an extent the Bush administration before it, and now even Rep. candidate Romney, all persist in not levelling with the Muslims of the world. I have some readers in Muslims countries so I will do it myself. I hope they will pass the word.

1 Our government pretty much operates withing the bounds of a short constitution written and adopted a long time ago. It’s not just a fiction as the world’s mental adolescents tend to believe. It’s a reality. The main word here is “bounds” imposed on government action.

2 Our constitution unambiguously protects blasphemy and blasphemers.

What separates our moral tradition in that area from Muslims  is not a little ditch as American governments and the pussy-footed State Department bureaucrats would sometimes have you believe. It’s a Grand Canyon.

The problem with social housing in the UK.

I know several single mums who have got a free council flat by just getting pregnant. I know several men who have said they are “homeless” and jump the waiting lists and are given a free council flat. What most of these people have in common is they don’t work so that the Council pays their full rent from Housing benefit. The council also does free plumbing and fixes their boilers for free. Somebody is paying for this|! Basically the Government give some of taxpayers money to the local Councils. One department in the council then pays the Housing Benefit into the Rent department for that tenant. This means that taxpayers with mortgages are subsidizing the freeloading lifestyles of social housing tenants.

The problem is even worse with large families they are given a bigger house than they could ever get if they got a job and a mortgage, most are so unskilled that they could only do manual warehouse work etc.

New immigrant families have been homed in very luxury homes in Londonistan with Housing Benefit up to £100K a year paid. Could they really get a job that would pay the rent? Are our Councils so afraid of being labelled racists if they don’t home the immigrants in luxury homes. Asylum seekers are getting free TV licence, free telephone calls back home, fully fitted homes and a winter fuel allowance. Back in the countries where these immigrants come from all the family would sleep in just one room. Why must we give them 7 bedroom homes? Most are just economic migrants who come here because they can’t get welfare in their home countries. It is no wonder we have 250,000 immigrants coming to the UK each year when we treat them so well.

We must stop giving Asylum. We must also stop foreign Aid. We should also change the points system on social housing so that those who have worked and paid taxes are put first. Child benefits should be limited to just 2 children and social housing to just 3 bedrooms.

Grooming ignored by Police

Police turned a blind eye to  allegations of sexual abuse of white girls by gangs of largely Pakistani men for more than a decade, it was claimed yesterday.

Research, reports and case files also revealed that council officials were desperate to cover up any racial link to the abuse of young girls.

The research shows that a string of warnings dating back as far as 2000 were ignored by the authorities. In many cases, police action was taken only against the victims.

Among the alleged crimes for which no one was prosecuted were:

• A 14-year-old girl being forced to perform sex acts on five men – four Pakistanis and an Iraqi Kurd asylum seeker;
• A British Pakistani man was found in a car with a bottle of vodka and a 12-year-old. Both were arrested on suspicion of stealing the car. Police also found pornographic images of the girl on the 22-year-old’s phone;
• A 14-year-old girl missing for a week was found under the influence of drugs in a car with a man 20 years older. They had had sex but he was arrested only for drug possession;
• A 13-year-old girl was found drunk at 3am in a derelict house with a ‘large group of adult males’ who had plied her with vodka. She was arrested for a public order offence while the men walked away.

According to previously confidential documents seen by The Times, police in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, found evidence of thousands of similar crimes and described ‘networks of Asian males exploiting young white females’.

The groups were reported to have trafficked victims to cities including Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

Despite this, just two prosecutions of groups of men for sexual abuse have taken place in South Yorkshire since 1996.

CHILLING ECHOES OF ABUSE BY SEX GANG IN ROCHDALE

The revelations about sexual exploitation in Rotherham echo the activities of a street-grooming gang which preyed on dozens of young girls in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Nine members of the group, including ringleader Shabir Ahmed, 59, were jailed for a total of 77 years by a judge at Liverpool Crown Court in May.

An 11-week trial heard that the men would target vulnerable teenage girls and pass them around for sex.

If the girls did not submit, they were plied with cheap vodka and raped.

It emerged during the trial that police and social services had missed opportunities to stop the abuse.

Ahmed, pictured above, was jailed for 19 years for his role in the street-grooming ring.

In August he was given a separate 22-year prison term, to run concurrently with the first, after he was convicted of raping another child in his community.

Earlier this month, Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Children Board announced that a serious case review into the exploitation would be held.

The board’s chairman Lynne Jones told the BBC that the review would look at the experiences of four young people and how agencies responded to their needs.

The review would focus on what help was available to the girls in the early stages of their ordeal and how reports of concern about the victims were handled.

In 2002, Home Office-funded research criticised officers for treating young victims as ‘deviant and promiscuous’ while ‘the men they were found with were never questioned or investigated’.

Revealing the fears over the racial element to the abuse, a 2010 report from the Rotherham Safeguarding Children Board said the crimes had ‘cultural characteristics … which are locally sensitive in terms of diversity’, but warned of ‘sensitivities of ethnicity with potential to endanger the harmony of community relationships’.

Denis MacShane, MP for Rotherham, said: ‘There’s a culture here of denial and cover-up and a refusal to accept the reality that we have men living in the Rotherham community who treat young girls as objects for their sexual pleasure. It’s time to tell the truth. We must root out this evil.’

The revelations come only three months after it emerged that social services in Rotherham had known for six years that a teenage mother, murdered for bringing shame on the families of two men who had used her for sex, was at clear risk from predatory gangs.

Laura Wilson, 17, had been groomed by a string of men before she was stabbed and thrown into a canal to die for informing her abusers’ families of the sexual relationships.

Her killer Ashtiaq Asghar, who was 18 at the time, was given a life sentence and will serve a minimum of 17-and-a-half years after he pleaded guilty to murdering Laura in October 2010.

But it emerged in June that Rotherham Council’s social services were well aware she was at risk and had received information about certain adults suspected of targeting her from the age of 11.

Good news

The European Court of Human Rights has given its final approval for the extradition of five major terrorism suspects from the UK to the US.

The court’s highest judges said they would not re-open the cases of Abu Hamza al-Masri, Babar Ahmad and others.

The decision means that the extradition of the men, wanted for years by the US, is likely to happen within weeks.

The Home Office welcomed the decision, saying it would ensure the extraditions happen as quickly as possible.

Each man had said they would face inhumane treatment in the United States if they were sent there.

Abu Hamza is accused of planning a terror training camp in the US and assisting hostage-taking in Yemen.

The US says that Babar Ahmad and his co-accused, Syed Talha Ahsan, ran a jihadist website in London that provided material support for terrorism.

Adel Abdul Bary, Khaled Al Fawwaz are accused of being aides to Osama bin Laden in London.

In a statement, the Strasbourg court said: “On 10 April 2012 the European Court of Human Rights held, in the case of Babar Ahmad and Others v. the United Kingdom, that there would be no violation of the applicants’ rights if extradited to stand trial in the United States.
